As the weather gets warmer and the skirts get shorter, I become hyper-aware of all the little things I can do to cut back and get bikini ready for the summer. Even though I may make healthier and lighter choices for my meals, I can have a hard time getting back into the habit of not eating until I'm immobile (thanks, winter), so I was so happy to find this super easy recipe for a slimdown drink by Dr. Oz! It's made up of all stuff I already had in my kitchen, and drinking one before each meal everyday not only helps you feel fuller before sitting down to eat, but can even help you burn fat faster! Check it out below.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Grapefruit Juice
2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
1 teaspoon of honey (if needed)
Simply mix the grapefruit juice and apple cider vinegar, stir, and enjoy! If you find the drink a bit too tart, go ahead and add a teaspoon of honey, which only adds 20 calories, to sweeten it up a bit. The drink is loaded with Vitamin C, which helps you burn fat faster (people with adequate levels of Vitamin C burn fat up to 30% faster), which can make for a much more productive work out. In addition, the acetic acid in the vinegar can even switch on fat-burning genes your body needs to pump out fat-burning proteins.

Happy slimming!

Arcadia DIY: Coconut Oil & Ginger Body Scrub
The mercury is finally starting to rise, and with that, we shed all those unwelcome layers of clothing . Unfortunately, our skin may not be as ready as we are--so here's a recipe for an all natural body scrub that will have you ready for tank tops and short shorts in no time flat.
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 tablespoon ginger, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup cold-pressed oil (tea seed, grape seed, sunflower, or almond oil)
3/4 cup granulated or turbinado sugar
1/4 cup kosher salt
1-4 drops essential oil (I used lemongrass)
In a small saucepan over low heat heat the coconut oil and ginger pieces. Continue heating for 5-10 minutes until ginger scent and juice has transferred into the oil. Remove from heat and press through a fine mesh sieve or through a coffee filter.
While the oil is still warm, mix together with cold-pressed oil. Stir to combine and allow to come to room temperature. Stir in sugar and salt. Scent with essential oils as desired. Pack into a container.
To Use: Massage into damp skin and allow to sit 2-4 minutes. Using a washcloth covered in warm water, steam over face or stand in a steamy shower for a minute. Using the wet washcloth, wipe excess from skin. Rinse and repeat until oil is washed away.
Makes approximately 8 ounces sugar body scrub.

On a small plate spread salt. With lime wedges moisten rim of 6 ounce glasses. Dip glasses into salt. Place glasses into freezer to chill.
In a pitcher combine tequila, blackberry juice, lime juice and Cointreau. Remove glasses from freezer and serve margarita mixture over ice. Garnish with lime slices and/or blackberries.

Mood Booster
Recent world events have left us all feeling a little worse for wear. It's important during these difficult times, that we remind ourselves of all the good that's still out there, of all the wonderful things we have to look forward to, and how lucky we are.
When your mood may be especially dark, surround yourself with colors that boost your mood--those that give you the energy to keep going, or provide a little comfort on those extra stressful days.
When your mood may be especially dark, surround yourself with colors that boost your mood--those that give you the energy to keep going, or provide a little comfort on those extra stressful days.
Energy: redsThese two stimulating colors boost your energy level by causing your body to pump out more adrenaline, says Leslie Harrington, a founder of LH Color, a color-consulting and research firm in Old Greenwich, Conn. One British study found that when evenly matched Olympic athletes competed, those wearing red won significantly more than their blue-wearing opponents.

Happy: greens and yellowsWant to feel more upbeat? Bring in the colors of sunshine and spring fields. In a study from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, adults reported feeling happier around these two colors.

Calm: bluesMost of us choose blue as our favorite color, and it’s really no wonder. Blue is a very soothing hue—it’s the color of the sky and the sea—and we can all use soothing touches of it in our hectic lives. In one of Stone’s studies, she found that people who were faced with difficult tasks felt less anxious after they saw something blue.

The Perfect Fit: Articles of Society Denim
New to Arcadia is the brand Articles of Society Denim--a premium denim line at an incredible price!
Mya Skinny in Mercer ($56) |
Revolutionary to its kind, Articles of Society has adopted a unique role in the premium denim industry as the first brand to offer consumers superior jeans at an affordable price. The company launched in 2012 after recognizing this missing element in the denim market and refusing to compromise quality for value.
With it’s headquarters based in downtown Los Angeles, Articles of Society uses the same high-quality fabrics, fit standards and craftsmanship as its contenders, whose jeans retail for up to four times the AOS price. As veterans in the denim industry with prior ties to Hudson, Antik Denim, Theory and Vince, the AOS team brings a wealth of insider knowledge and practicality to the business, lending the company a significant edge over its industry peers.
AOS made its first statement with the Mya Skinny; an original fit whose popularity inspired multiple styles and growth within the collection. Symbolic to the brand is the signature gel A embossed into the back pocket of every AOS jean – a visual testament to the company’s mission to offer classic, quality designs that are always on trend.
Since its launch, Articles of Society has taken the denim market by storm, selling at major retail locations across the world and garnering the attention of industry professionals and experts. In pursuit of cultivating a unique and influential brand, AOS has committed itself to transforming the denim industry from the inside-out. The Brand satisfies a fashionable, budget-conscious generation with denim that is cutting-edge, versatile, and above all iconic.Articles of SocietyClassic design, iconic fit
I've already fallen in love with them--so hurry up and try on what's sure to be your new favorite pair!

BB Dakota Adara Blouse Styling
This rose printed chiffon blouse has long sleeves with button tab for rolling. Its slight gauzy sheerness gives this over-sized blouse some subtle feminiity. I think this blouse would also look great worn open as a duster with high waisted shorts and a bandeau! xox Betsy
