Portland by Pendleton

I am still all about the Native American prints for Fall and I can't wait for Pendleton's Portland collection!

Fall 2011 Portland Collection

Fall 2011 Portland Collection
The Native American trend was kick-started by British designer Mathew Williamson in 2008. From there, the trend spread and most designers were featuring some sort of Native American inspired print on the runway. The trend really blew up in the winter of 2009 when Pendleton- a woolen mill in Oregon that has been making wool blankets with Native American-inspired designs for more than a hundred years- teamed up with Opening Ceremony. Over the past three seasons, Opening Ceremony has elevated Pendleton to the front lines of the fashion world. Since the launch of this collaboration, Pendleton has also teamed up with Levi's, Timberland, and Vans.  But it is not until now, Fall 2011, that Pendleton is finally launching it's own fashion forward line, sans collaboration, named the Portland Collection.

The Pendleton woolen mill was founded it 1893. At the turn of the 20th century, there were five major companies in the United States producing wool blankets for the purposes of trade with Native Americans. Of those five companies, Pendleton is the only one still in existence. To this day, Pendelton creates Indian trade blanket, as well as fashion forward designs.
