Pretty.Little.Things by Mary Carnes

Inspired by Victorian and Edwardian period jewelry & hand-crated in Lancaster, Pennsylvania,  Mary Carnes' necklaces exude vintage charm in the most luxurious sense.  She sources forgotten treasures from antique shops & flea markets around the state, and pairs them with beautiful beads and segments of antique chains to create gorgeous one-of-a-kind jewelry. Hand engraved lockets, real gold-filled and silver-plated mechanical pencils from decades past, and authentic horse shoe charms are just tiny parts of her creations.  Stop by Rittenhouse to check out the collection!

My two favorites are at the bottom, so be sure to scroll down!

Cheers,
Alex

SASS & BIDE Spring 2012 RTW

I love Australian label sass & bide.  The aesthetic is structured, yet certain pieces drape so beautifully, and their use of color for this current collection is ingenious!  The metallic and neon hues blend seamlessly - the wearer becomes invincible.  Here are my favorite looks (it was SO hard to narrow it down!)
This top.
cage top/metal chevron style belt/ high-low printed skirt
body armour top (look at the sleeves!)
entire metallic pantsuit/ neon bib necklace combo
sporty top / feminine drapey skirt
my favorite top again / jewelry cuffs / skirt
smitten with this top - geometric styling
structured top / flowy bottom
cage top / paper bag waist metallic skirt
mini/maxi amazingness

Which is your favorite look?

Alex

Himalayan Trading Post Candles

Its that time of year again, when the weather gets cooler and there is nothing better than coming home and lighting a scented candle.  We love Himalayan Trading Post candles ( my favorite is the cinnamon apple scent - I just can't get enough!).  Ever wonder how the company got its name?  Check out some cool information below and look at how each piece is handcrafted.

The company was born  in 2004 by owner, Julia Leaphart.   Growing up in a small hill town in the Himalayas, it started as way to maintain a connection to a childhood spent in a very small but lovely corner of the world.  Her idea was to specialize in creative and decorative candles that would add a sense of warmth and character and provide a natural focal point to a room

Check out these hand painted terracotta pots and many more wooden pot candles in the stores.  We have delicious flavors (Bourbon Vanilla, anyone?) and are getting another shipment later this week!

Daily Dose of Inspiration!

It suddenly got cold & gloomy overnight, and my body was not in the mood to get out of bed this morning.  And then, I stumbled upon this cool video of French street artists SUPAKITCH & KORALIE.  Watch their creation process below (and be sure to turn on the volume - the music is awesome, too!)

Tried & True: Feral Childe

Part three of Arcadia's favorite designers lines features Feral Childe, a collaboration of bi-coastal designers Moriah Carlson (in Brooklyn, NY) and Alice Wu (in Oakland, CA).  Both ladies come from a fine arts background, and are meticulous about their creations from conception to production.  There is also always a focus on the environment, "Feral Childe combines thoughtful choice of materials and attention to quality construction to make smart, wearable silhouettes for forward-thinking women. Feral Childe is proudly manufactured in New York City."

The Crater Dress - a best seller from Winter 2010!

We just got a whole bunch of gorgeous Feral Childe dresses, so be sure to stop by soon!

Alex
