Race Street Pier
Now that it's finally starting to warm up again and the winds are starting to die down it's time to enjoy the beautiful weather by going for a walk, lounging outside in the sun's rays while reading a book, enjoying a picnic with friends and/or family, surfing the web with the free wifi, or simply just relaxing outside and soaking up the sun. The Race Street Pier is a great place to do all of these things while overlooking the Delaware River and the Ben Franklin Bridge, as well as the city sky line. The new Race Street Pier was opened in May 2011. It is part of the ongoing initiative to beautify the waterfront and make it more intriguing for the people of Philadelphia. The pier consists of an upper and lower terrace with multi-purpose lawns, planting beds, and seating. It's open from 7 am to 11 pm so go out and enjoy this wonderful weather!
