Gold Rush

It is no surprise that gold symbolizes wealth used wisely, but it is also the symbol of good health. People who favor the color gold are optimistic.

Gold Energy

The Tibetan Buddhist believes in 5 sacred stones: the crystal for light, turquoise for infinity of sea and sky, coral for life and form, gold for the golden ray of the sun, silver for the light of the moon. Gold is intimately linked with Divinity and those gods associated with the Sun. It symbolizes wealth and success.
Put some gold in your life when you want:
  • increased personal power
  • relaxation and enjoyment of life
  • good health
  • success

Wearing Gold

Wearing gold in everyday life increases personal power, and promotes courage, confidence and willpower. Gold chains worn around the neck preserve health.

Stop by and check out all of the gold accessories we have in store now! xoxo Betsy

The Andover Gift Shop

My first retail job was at The Andover Gift Shop in my hometown when I was 16 years old. Whenever I go home to Massachusetts I always make a point to go shopping at my favorite local boutique. They still give me my employee discount 10 years later! I got some sad news a couple months ago when I heard they were closing down after 30 years. I had one last memorable shopping spree with my Mom over Christmas vacation and shed a few tears with the owner Debbie! Main Street will never be the same without you :)

Give Back with Arcadia!

Tomorrow night is annual HOLIDAY PARTY AND TRUNK SHOW! At our Northern Liberties location from 5PM-9PM, join us for some great food, discounts, lots of cheer, and a chance to pick up those last minute Christmas gifts from great local artists!!

As 2012 comes to a close, we realize here at Arcadia how fortunate we've been and how grateful we are for all we have! So, Thursday night we will also be collecting journals, gently used jewelry, make-up, and personal care items to donate to One Simple Wish, and in return, receive 20% off your entire purchase (excluding trunk show items).

One Simple Wish, a 501c3 nonprofit, has been making small miracles happen for foster children and vulnerable families since December 2008. They offer everyone a glimpse into the life of a child in the foster care system and families in need by connecting people to create rewarding, meaningful relationships between those who want to give and those who need help.

So help us help those in need this holiday season! Hope to see you all on Thursday!

Toggery Fun!

Just received a bunch of great Toggery shirts at the Northern Liberties store today. They'll be making their way over to the Rittenhouse location soon, so be sure to stock up on these not-too-basic basics for winter!

These long sleeve open back shirts would look great with a lacy bandeau. In both white and red, it'd be a great addition to any wardrobe.

Arcadia DIY: Deck the Halls

City living usually means small spaces for most of us--and while I'd love to spread as much cheer as possible this holiday season, my square footage is limited. So here are some great tree trimming ideas for those of us who are spatially challenged! An added bonus--everything you see here can be accomplished with things found around your house or the local hardware store, so all your money can still go towards gifts*!

Happy Holidays!

XX,
Arielle

How to Make the Perfect Cheese Board!

  • Serve 3 to 5 types of cheese in different styles, tastes and textures. More choices than that can be overwhelming. A good start would be a soft cheese like Brie, a firm cheese like Cheddar and a blue-veined cheese like Roquefort.

  • Build your cheese board around a theme, such as cheeses  from a particular region or different milks such as from cows, sheep, and goats.

  • Garnish your cheese board with colorful, edible ingredients such as grapes, apples, tomatoes, celery, and dried berries.

  • Put out separate dishes with a variety of gourmet olives (Kalamata, Nicoise, Spanish), pickled vegetables (gherkins, artichoke hearts, peppers), lightly roasted nuts (walnuts, macadamias, almonds), and a selection of mustard varieties for dipping.

  • Offer a choice of different breads, crackers and biscuits in a choice of shapes and flavors.

  • When serving, remove the wrapping from cheeses but leave rinds on.

  • Provide a cheese knife for each cheese, to avoid mixing flavors. Before serving, bring cheese to room temperature for optimal flavor by removing them from the refrigerator by removing them from the fridge for up to, but no more than, 2 hours prior to serving.

Now that is my kind of cheese board!! xoxo Betsy

Crock Pot Apple Cider

I love snuggling up with some festive treats during the holiday season, and found this amazing recipe for crock pot apple cider on the Budget Savvy Diva website. Try it out and reward your taste buds for all their hard work this year!

What You Need
3 Liter of apple juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3-4 whole cloves
cinnamon sticks broken into small pieces1 whole nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon Orange peel ( dried)
Pinch of All Spice

What To Do
Take a piece of cheesecloth and place all everything ( in the middle)  but the lemon juice and apple juice.
Draw the corners of the cheese cloth together and tie – so it creates a spice sack
Set your crock pot to low. Combine apple juice and lemon juice together
Place spice sack into the apple juice – make sure the whole sack is covered in liquid
Leave for about 2 hours or until warm to your liking.
Make sure to stir every hour or so.
Discard spice sack and enjoy!

Happy sipping!
